Carolyn Coleman, MHSA, BSN, RN

Carolyn Coleman is an Alabama author, nurse, speaker, wife, mother, and community advocate. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Samford University and a master’s degree in health services administration from Strayer University. Carolyn is a lifetime member of the National Black Nurses Association and an active member of the Birmingham Black Nurses Association, Inc. She served as chair of the Outreach Committee for two years and is a past president of the Bessemer Public Library Board of Trustees. She is also a board member of the C.H.L.M.S. Medi-Helpz Foundation, whose mission includes patient engagement, empowerment, and education for patients and the community. Carolyn is a ForbesBLK member and a recipient of the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She is also a candidate for the District 5 seat on the Bessemer City Council.

Carolyn has more than 35 years of critical care nursing experience and currently works as a nurse case manager. She has worked with hospital administrators to develop plans for complex patient cases, manage outcomes, apply best practices, and advocate for patients. She has also served as an adjunct nursing instructor.

Carolyn is the author of the five-book Gentry Series. Its title character navigates relationships, career changes, friendship, healing, and difficult life choices. Carolyn describes writing as a cathartic part of her personal journey. She enjoys reading and staying active by line dancing, walking, and spending time with her family and friends. She is an international podcaster.

Carolyn has contributed to six No. 1 bestselling anthologies, four of which achieved international bestseller recognition.

Carolyn is an award-winning author, motivational speaker, and contributing writer for Listen Linda Magazine.
